Inviting aromas of nectarine and lemon chiffon begin the nose of this Etude Chardonnay. On the palate, the wine has lively acidity and purity of fruit with flavors of white peach, guava and lime. The striking interplay of minerality, palate weight and length is the wine's hallmark. Apple blossom and spice notes contribute to a long finish. The Etude Chardonnay is sourced exclusively from our Estate vineyard in Carneros. The vineyard is farmed to Etude's exacting standards, using ecologically sound viticultural practices. We grow and ultimately pick focusing on intensity of flavor, strong varietal delineation and ideal natural balance. This wine is a pure expression of Chardonnay and of our Estate vineyard. A collection of clones and selections, including one Heirloom selection, combine to create this Chardonnay. After a gentle pressing, one-third of the juice is transferred to small stainless steel vats and two-thirds to French oak barrels (10% new) for fermentation and sur lie aging.
